I see an alert system as only minimally effective on a highly populated urban campus. It is good to have, but more should be done, especially in the community.

I think that what Bob and Kaye are doing is incredible. They are putting energy into making sure other people do not have to experience such a horrible loss. When you make a decision to get into a vehicle and drive while intoxicated, you are playing with not only your life but everyone else’s around you. It can be so easliy prevented. Tell someone you can’t drive because you are too far gone and true friends will take it from there. You can start by going out one night and try “NOT DRINKING” at all…..you might even have a better time and better morning. We all respect our soldiers and know they deal with alot but alcohol should not be their outlet!

Drinking and driving affects everyone, regardless of their job at a given time (yes, even if that means “national service”). Anyone who’s been to a military base knows that drinking happens. I’m not calling our troops drunks (FAR from it), I’m just noting that where there’s people + a few drinks, there’ll be one person who ends up driving with a couple drinks in ‘em).

I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and had the time of my life! I cannot recommend strongly enough that everyone take advantage of the opportunity to study a language abroad whether they go for just one week or the whole year. I was lucky enough to spend the whole academic year in Granada, the city is simply stunning, has the most amazing atmosphere and culture – all with the Alhambra Palace and the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. I met fantastic people, made Spanish friends, and came home with super memories and no shortage of stories to tell. One of the most incredible years ever!

West Papua was traded as a colony by John F Kennedy from the Netherlands to Indonesia via the New York Agreement unwittingly for the benefit of Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc. Freeport is now Indonesia’s largest tax payer, and those profiting from this colony (members of the US Indonesia Society & the Indonesian military) do not wish you to know that West Papua is a colony, is suffering genocide.

Since 2003 the Bush administration has been acting to disarm the Yale Law school use of word genocide; Darfur is the sad victim of a civil war; but according to Yale University the people in the colony of West Papua are victims of genocide.

The photo was never referenced, so it just seemed out of place – the poll seemed a bit off target, too. Though you were asked to convert your broadcast script, that didn’t happen. You could have done much more with this.

You gave us good information – added in relevant links, but LOTS of words spelled incorrectly! Run your posts through spell check before posting if this is a problem for you – it will kill your credibility!

Nice job on the picture, the links and getting the video posted. You still struggled to this story started, but I think between us, we have a decent lead.

I think there are times when something works well on tape, but not so well in text, so I deleted the Spruill portion of the pkg.

Don’t forget, too, that the Web offers the opportunity for you to provide MORE info, so you might have pulled some new quotes, added in some new facts – things you couldn’t get into the original story.

Overall, good effort.

Good job, Alex.

I don’t know if you were trying to add pictures or not, but there was something messed up in the code view.

Couple things – heads and subheads on the Web are usually in “sentence case” which means only the first word of the headline or proper nouns are capitalized.

Also watch for “dating” stories with words like “Wednesday” – if someone reads this two weeks from now, they won’t know what Wednesday we’re talking about.

Overall, good first effort.
